heliophile 10.09.2007 |

my pasty complexion may belie or deny what i am about to talk about.

i am a heliophile. i love the sun. i love sunsets and sunrises. the movement of shadows is captivating. as i learn more about myself and my architecture i find the sun is a very large part of how i design. its power controls the environments and aesthetics of my work. some gestures are about bringing it in others are about hiding from it, or even denying it.

this morning i saw what has to have been one of the most beautiful sunrises of my life.

walking to the MAX i looked to the east and at first glance thought the whole of the west hills was ablaze. the mixture of the "mist and what-not up 'dere" and the rising sun was amazing. something in seeing it reminded me of the beauty of this creation and my tendency of late to take it for granted.
